Marc’s Very Special Christmas

Marc's Very Special Christmas
We don’t observe Christmas, but Marc made it tough this year not to, at least, celebrate it — what with Christmas Eve dinner at the Hotel Del Coronado followed by a deliciously catered Christmas Day lunch at Judy and Janet’s.  Read More →

Mission Beach 2012

Mission Beach 2012
This week was time for our faithful summertime campaign to San Diego. And so, our fellow pilgrims traveled far and wide — San Francisco, New York, London and Paris—landing on Mission Beach for a few days of ritualized cavorting. The video captures the main action, but the photos, as is their bent, add on all those special elements that fall outside the frames.  Click on any thumb to cycle...

Avocado Run

Avocado Run
We needed avocados. And lemons. We were going to throw a wild party and, you know, avocados and lemons are key. So Lou and Adam made a run up to Santa Barbara to raid the ranch.  We made a quick stop at the beach to take in some scenery.  And, while Pablo and the guys loaded up the car, we took the quads up to the ranch’s highest point.  On the way back home we (of course) hit La Super Rica...

Mission Beach 2011

Mission Beach 2011
Another Summer.  Another successful rendezvous at Mission Beach.  Marc and Marlo continued the week’s hyper-efficient romance, with Marlo pretty meeting much the whole of Marc’s gene pool.  Cash almost made good on his bid for a never-ending summer, taking a few surf lessons and making it back up to SF only moments before the semester’s first bell.  Eva shamed everyone with a...

San Francisco: Lou’s 41st

San Francisco: Lou's 41st
Back to the ol’ stomping grounds, but with exciting changes. A chance to meet Scarlett and visit Lucy in her hood. A meet-up with Nisi and Marc, in from the NYC.  The run of Jones, the new family club/lounge/restaurant (Laura even helped herself to some furniture). Oh, and a secret excursion to Napa with an eclectic cast of characters that must remain unnamed for matters of international security....

Coastal California: Laura’s 40th Birthday

Coastal California: Laura’s 40th Birthday
During February 3-10, 2011, in celebration of Laura’s 40th Birthday, we did a road trip up California’s Central Coast, from Los Angeles to Santa Cruz.  We took in rugged coastline, striking seascapes, majestic mountains, bucolic vineyards and a lot of good road food. You can see the highlights from our trip in the short video below. There are posts (including photos and some video highlights)...

Coastal California: Santa Barbara Wine Country

Coastal California: Santa Barbara Wine Country
Nestled in the heart of Santa Barbara County’s legendary vineyards, is the breathtaking Santa Ynez Valley Wine Country.  This region includes the village of Los Olivos, rustic Santa Ynez and the quaint Danish village of Solvang. We visited the Santa Barbara Wine Country (specifically, the Santa Ynez Valley) on February 9-10, 2011, as part of our Coastal California road trip in celebration of Laura’s...

Coastal California: Cambria

Coastal California: Cambria
South of San Simeon on Highway 1 is the charming town of Cambria, California, “where the pines meet the sea.” Towering Monterey pines frame the dynamic coastline along its unique Moonstone Beach, one of Cambria’s and the Central Coast’s most scenic spots. This lovely village boasts of its artists’ colony. Drawn by its stunning beauty, the serenity of its relative isolation,...

Coastal California: Sand Dollar Beach

Coastal California: Sand Dollar Beach
Three miles up Highway 1 from Willow Creek and few miles south of Gorda is the beguiling Sand Dollar Beach, a glistening crescent of pure, white sand yawning into a horseshoe cove of shifty sandbars. Sand Dollar Beach is one of the most beautiful and scenic beaches on the spectacular Big Sur Coast. It is the longest strand of sandy beach along the Big Sur coast. We visited Sand Dollar Beach on February...

Coastal California: Big Sur

Coastal California: Big Sur
We visited Big Sur on February 5-8, 2011, as part of our Coastal California road trip to celebrate Laura’s 40th Birthday. Big Sur is located along Scenic Highway One approximately 150 miles south of San Francisco and 300 miles north of Los Angeles. Historically, the name Big Sur, was derived from that unexplored and unmapped wilderness area which lays along the coast south of Monterey. It was...
